La consecration : "Unplugged"




   In September 1992, EC publishes "Unplugged", a video and a CD which faithfully reflect his participation to the MTV program. Let's note that the artist or the group who participates to it has to play live with acoustic instruments. It is an exercise that suits EC and in which he is excellent.

"Unplugged" is commercialized not only for its artistic qualities but also, and mainly, to stop the parallel market based on this show, which could explain the relative small advertisement made for its promotion.

Against every waits, it directly becomes number 10 and belongs the number 1 without reaching it. Hurriedly, a single album is created with the acoustic version of "Layla".

In March 1993, EC is the big winner of the Grammy Awards, with 6 récompenses.

As a result of this, after 27 weeks in the charts, "Unplugged" becomes number 1 on March 13, 1993. It is the biggest sale for EC with 14 million albums sold.
