EC "Techno"

In 1997, EC anonymously participates to the TDF project where Simon Climie is the investigator, previously member of the duet Climie-Fisher. But on the album "Retail Therapy", his guitar is so remarkable that the secret is quickly out. Satisfied by this first collaboration with Simon Climie, EC decides to renew it for his new and last album Pilgrim.

"We could say that TDF was the ground on which germs my new album. It is there I learnt to know Simon Climie, to trust him. It is there we have developed our relation, our collaboration. We have written the music together : 50% him, 50% me, as well for TDF as "Pilgrim". But what was really different is that on the new album, I have written all the lyrics."

"Pilgrim", released on March 6, 1998, is the first album of original material that EC gives us for 10 years. In 14 titles, 12 compositions he signed or co-signed, he shows us his intimate universe. He shares with us his doubts, his loves, his misfortunes, but also his joy he has to keep at doing things he likes above all: play. "Pilgrim" is also an album of meeting, of love, as we discover the presence of his hidden daughter, Grace Kelly Clapton; and two titles "Circus" and "My father's Eyes", which evoke the tragic lost of his son and his father he never met. "My father's eyes" the first extract of the album was created at the same time as "Tears in heaven", in 1991.

""My father's eyes" get us some troubles. The most difficult was to let it ripen, to let it grow, to let it develop itself. We were at the period of "Unplugged" and we gave up. For "Pilgrim", we have tried 6 times. It was the song by which we had begun the album and the one which missed us to end it. It hasn't changed."
