RICHARD : "THIS COMES FROM AROUND 1928 and it's great that we've also got an L3 with a round soundhole. This is a very rare guitar indeed and is part of the Lloyd Loar 'Masterbilt' series, which includes the original L5 with a dot- neck that people get very excited about. In fact it's very like an L5. it's got the oval Masterbilt label and 'Spl' written inside: this means 'special' and shows it was a special custom order. A very important collector of Loar series guitars tells me he's seen only three of these in his entire period of collecting. I'm absolutely fascinated to see this guitar."
