ERIC CLAPTON SELLS OUT

SALVADOR IBANEZ CLASSICAL

Estimate $2,000-$4,000

LEE : "THIS GUITAR IS INTERESTING. IT'S ONE of the most inlaid guitars I've ever seen, and yet the wood he's used is so plain. You can see it's really old because, although the inlays are well done, they're not like the computer-generated, totally accurate inlays on modern guitars.

"I never liked this guitar, but I cleaned it up one day at the Albert Hall because Eric often likes a gut-strung guitar to warm up with, and left it in his dressing room for a couple of weeks. He really liked it and played it and it's been on the sessions for a couple of records.

RICHARD : "THERE WERE A LOT OF makers building very similar guitars to this, and the top does look like it was hewn from a floorboard, although it's a very close grained piece of spruce and the guitar sounds very sweet. Eric likes it a lot and it was a favourite backstage guitar."
